We want to be first to let you know that Centigon will be opening its doors in June to accept BETA users, but as one of our readers you can sign up now to test their newest component, the ‘CSV Connector’! For those who don’t know what CSV stands for it means ‘comma separated value’. Seats are limited, the BETA is not yet public so get in now.
Guru Honest Review – This is by far one of the easiest ‘live data connectors’ in Xcelsius we have ever used, which makes sense since the owners of this company were developers themselves. No rigid formats, special headers or customized scripts! Signing up on the page below takes on 2 minutes so do it now.

Guru Testing – Here is our data source .. a simple .csv (comma separate value) file previewed in notepad.

Below is a screen shot of a simple test model that we built.
The .CSV file is hosted on our server. Existing and past Xcelsius ‘XML Data’ button users here are some thing you wont miss:
- NO need for strict formats. The CSV format is as straight forward as it gets.
- NO need for special headers to special XML versions.
- NO need to created send/load range names! The data from the .csv loads into Xcelsius in the same manner that it would if you imported the file into Xcelsius.
Easy to use? Yes. The BETA is free, private and will close very soon after they publicly announce it in June. In addition Centigon is probably going to offer some incentive to the BETA users to buy it once they are done testing, so we advise you sing up now before they make the program public. We were told they are a limited number of seats on this one, similar to the GMaps which shut down quickly!

Mico,
This would be a great connection type. I can’t wait. I just registered for the alert.
Question: Can we also select Prompts so that I get what I want to view?
Regards,
Kalyan Verma
For the BETA feature its very basic. I think that once the BETA is over they will incorporate feedback, so I would be sure to suggest that!
Well, I’ve spent the last 4 hours trying to get the plug in to work. It just locks up the component panel. I am using Fix Pack 3 and Xcelsius 2008 on a Windows XP Laptop. Hope this works, as I do not really want to create my own Xquery/translator for this…! (already let them know…)
Sorry that it was not working for you. I have heard several instances where customers can not install add-ons. The most common cause is Vista UAC. To disable UAC you can reference this article (http://ryangoodman.net/blog/index.php/2009/02/17/disable-uac-in-vista-to-install-xcelsius). Otherwise I ask you to please report the issue to business objects so they can log and investigate. There is definately an issue but it has been near impossible to replicate, so hopefully they can localize and fix it.
This is an Excellent Connector. Definitely this will be add a value to Xcelsius
Can we refresh the swf data by editing data in CSV File?
Unfortunately it does not support a data push. You will be able to setup a time-based refresg interval or a trigger refresh based on a user’s interaction in the SWF, but not in the CSV file. Thanks for the comment.

Mico
Hi,First thanks for the response.I would like to have any successfull case study’s on xcelsius by the companys which has used xcelsius in gaining market competancy.
Hi Mico You
I was looking at an Xcelsius model that you had done that had a background makeover – this is exactly what I have been looking for and would like to add to it.
Do you have the source files availalble – less the background builder files?
You can reach me on imunro@tarponenergy.com.
Thanks
