News: Xcelsius 2008 SP1 Now Available!

If you recall a few weeks ago we reported a rumor that the Xcelsius 2008 SP1 (Service Pack 1) would be available sometime in July 08? See original post here.

Well, though our date was off by 2 weeks, the good news is that it’s here! We got the information below on how to download SP1 directly from the SAP forums (Note: We recommend uninstalling your current Xcelsius 2008 version and writing down your Product Key Code first).

We are very pleased to announce that Xcelsius 2008 SP1 is now available for download!

The download is available at the following link:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007532212008E/cx2008_sp1.zip

You can also navigate to this page by following this path:
www.sdn.sap.com > Business Objects > Business Objects Support for Crystal Reports and Xcelsius > Downloads (opens a new window https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-downloads) > Software Product – Crystal Xcelsius, click “Search” > Xcelsius 2008 SP1 will be the first listing

We are hearing from some users that there are some issues with installing it on Vista systems. Gosh we hope SAP did not miss this!

We will be going through it with a fine tooth comb to see what has been done and which bugs remain so stay tuned…..

I’ve installed SP1 and now I can’t add a webservice. Anyone else run into this issue?

Hmmm…not that we are aware of. Did you uninstall the previous version first?

  3. ScottieMac says:

What i did was uninstall my version of Xcelsius 2008 and then I installed SP1.

After fiddling with Xcelsius for a while I found that I actually can add a web service Connection.

The catch is that I can only add one connection to each .xlf file. From what I’ve read this seems to be a limitation of SP1. This seems like a downgrade instead of an upgrade.

Thanks for the help Scottie Mac. Also, are you checking under the following menu Data -> Connections?

Unlike 4.5, 2008 has a new Data Manager that handles all of the data connections (Flash Vars, Web Service Buttons, XML Data etc). They are no longer buttons that you take from the Component List.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for you help everyone, I've started from scratch and uninstalled my existing version of Xcelsius then installed SP1.

I've tried adding connections going the data->connections route and also by clicking the "Launch Data Manager" button from the refresh buttons properties menu. Both routes allow me to add only one web service connection to each .xlf file.

I wonder what the purpose of this limitation is.

Anyway… I'm going to revert back to my version of Xcelsius 2008 without SP1 installed and wait to see if more information surfaces about this issue.

    Thanks again for your help
